Predictors of Extended Postoperative Opioid Use in Patients Undergoing Hip Arthroscopy For FAIS
نویسندگان
چکیده
To identify predictors of requiring at least one postoperative opioid refill after undergoing hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement and determine 2-year reported outcomes those patients. Data from consecutive patients FAIS January 2012 to December 2016 were analyzed. Baseline demographics recorded, along with preoperative use pre- functional scores including the Hip Outcome Score-Activity Daily Living (HOS-ADL), HOS-Sports Subscale (HOS-SS), modified Harris score (mHHS), international outcome tool (iHOT-12), visual analog (VAS) pain satisfaction. A correlation analysis was used variables associated refill. Statistically significant (p>0.05) included in a final logistic regression model. 775 follow-up analysis. 141 (18.2%) required prescription Patients refills had significantly lower HOS-ADL (79.9+-20.3 vs 88.7+-14.9), HOS-SS (64.6+-29.5 78.2+-23.7), mHHS (74.2+-21.1 83.6+-15.9), iHOT-12(63.6+-27.9 74.9+-24.8), VAS satisfaction (73.4+-30.3 82.2+-24.9), as well higher (26.8+-23.4 17.9+-21.8) p<0.001 all outcomes. Predictors additional opioids history prior surgery (OR: 4.04; 95%CI: 1.99-8.19) larger alpha angles (OR:1.04; 1.01-1.07). Sub-analysis by past versus current time demonstrated that predictive (OR:3.12; 1.06-9.21; p=0.039), while not. have when compared not refills. Additionally, active pre-operative surgery, are management.

Surgical predictors of acute postoperative pain after hip arthroscopy
BACKGROUND Pain following hip arthroscopy is highly variable and can be severe. Little published data exists demonstrating reliable predictors of significant pain after hip arthroscopy. The aim of this study was to identify influence of intraoperative factors (arthroscopic fluid infusion pressure, operative type) on the severity of postoperative pain. METHODS A retrospective review of 131 pat...
متن کاملImpact of intraoperative acetaminophen administration on postoperative opioid consumption in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement.
BACKGROUND Opioid utilization for acute pain has been associated with numerous adverse events, potentially resulting in longer inpatient stays and increased costs. OBJECTIVE To examine the effect of intravenous (IV) acetaminophen administered intraoperatively on postoperative opioid consumption in adult subjects who underwent hip or knee replacement. METHODS This retrospective cohort study ...
متن کاملPostoperative Rehabilitation Guidelines for Hip Arthroscopy in an Active Population
CONTEXT With the evolution of hip arthroscopy has come an increased recognition of intra-articular hip pathologies and improved techniques for their management. Whereas mechanical problems can often be corrected through surgery, functional deficits must be corrected through the rehabilitation process. Therefore, the evolution of hip arthroscopy has necessitated a progression in hip rehabilitati...

متن کاملReview of Postoperative Delirium in Geriatric Patients Undergoing Hip Surgery
Postoperative delirium is a serious complication following hip surgery in elderly patients that can adversely affect outcomes in both hip fracture and arthroplasty surgery. Recently, the incidence of hip fracture in the Medicare population was estimated at approximately 500 000 patients per year, with the majority treated surgically. The annual volume of total hip arthroplasty is nearly 450 000...
